Idaho Boy: Listen to My Songs
Refuge

Every noisy, busy small town has a quiet place where people can go to rest their hearts...and make quiet apologies.
Here in our town there’s a grove a willows
Down where the river is wide
People race by, a siren sounds
Down by the river it’s quiet
Somewhere in town a baby cries
An old man yells at the TV
A farmer swears and swats at the flies
Come to the willows with me
Here in our town the band plays loudly
Fireworks pierce the sky
Young boys fight in a dirty alley
Softly the river flows by
A window breaks, an argument starts
A woman wonders and weeps
She’s trying to mend a broken heart
Come to the willows with me
You and I, babe, we’ve had our sorrows
I’ve been a villain at times
Swallows swoop among the willows
Why did I make you cry?
There’s no excuse for the things that I’ve done
The river flows down to the sea
How could I hurt the one that I love?
Come to the willows with me
